During the organization’s September Quarterly Summit, Southeast AlabamaWorks honored Dean Mitchell for his dedicaton and service the past two years as board chairman. Mitchell, who is the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce’s executive director, has played an integral role in helping Southeast AlabamaWorks maintain its mission.

“This organization has grown leaps and bounds these past two years under Dean’s guidance,” said Ryan Richards, Southeast AlabamaWorks director of workforce development. “We cannot thank him enough for what he has done and will continue to do as he remains a board member.”

Southeast AlabamaWorks is a regional workforce council under the Alabama Department of Commerce and serves to support business and industry workforce needs. The organization has a full-time staff of three and a contract project manager who handles all K-12 related initiatives.

Mitchell worked with the staff very closely to ensure the initiatives and projects of the organization stayed on track and were beneficial to the whole region. His words of encouragement, ideas and suggestions have been a key part in helping the organization become successful.

David Norwood of Alabama Power will assume the role as board chairman Oct. 1.
